Australian Made, Australian Grown.
With many fashion labels outsourcing their production overseas nowadays, Gideon Shoes are honored to remain 100% Australian. Every single product within our line is designed, sourced and manufactured in Australia, allowing all of our consumers to be guaranteed that they are remaining true to their aussie roots, and are also doing their part when it comes to Australia’s economy! We are proud to be an “Australian Made, Australian Grown” label.
Speaking of Australian Made and Australian Grown, we’re taking the time to appreciate our top 10 favourite Australian Personalities here at Gideon HQ – all of whom are also worthy of this title, and dedicated to what Gideon Shoes stand for.
10. Daimon Downey
ARIA Award winning musician turned artist and former Sneaky Sound System band member Daimon Downey earns his spot at number 7 for his commitment to Australian brands and charity. Daimon is currently designing a piece of art that will be showcased near the Market St. entrance of Sydney’s new CBD Westfield shopping center for the Ted Noffs Foundation.
Public Relations Princess Roxy Jacenko was born and bred in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, and currently runs fashion, beauty and lifestyle publicity empire, Sweaty Betty. Roxy is a know fashion devotee, and can always be spotted at Australia’s hottest events in the most stylish attire. Ms Jacenko is also dedicated to the growth of an endless amount of Australian brands that she and her team of Sweaty Betty’s represent.
8. Rupert Noffs
Founder of “OneNoffs” – a line of charity shops with a edgy twist, and co-founder of Gideon Shoes, Rupert Noffs is the grandson of the late Reverend Ted Noffs. Devoted to the charities the Ted Noffs Foundation runs and supports, Rupert earns his place at number 8 for his relentless commitment to Australian based charities.
7.Ruby Rose
Her striking good looks, individuality and fearless nature to speak out of the box make MTV’s Ruby Rose our choice for number 7 on the countdown. Ruby, who designs her own line “Milk and Honey by Ruby Rose” is a familiar face on the Australian fashion circuit, and her familiarity with a number of charities and good causes make her one of Gideon’s favourite Aussie stars.
Australian actor Firass Dirani shot to fame for his role as John Ibrahim in the 2010 series of Underbelly: The Golden Mile. Born and raised in Sydney, Firass has featured in numerous films, theatre productions and television series throughout his budding career, and earlier this year earned the prestigious title of CLEO’s Bachelor Of The Year. For his impeccable style, flair and general distinctiveness as an all-round and talented Australian, Firass earns his place at number 6 on our Top 10 Australian countdown.
5. Kyle Sandilands
As the saying goes; there’s no smoke without fire, and that’s exactly what Mr Sandilands brings to the table – smoke AND fire. A sizzling attitude and staple on hit radio-show Today FM has made Kyle one of Australia’s biggest celebrities, and whether you love him or hate him – he can be guaranteed to bring the laughs.
4. Charlotte Dawson
Ms Charlotte Dawson has become a tabloid-staple in recent years, predominantly for her entertaining antics on renowned reality-TV show “Australia’s Next Top Model’, as well as being a regular on Australia’s social circuit. Charlotte’s impeccable style and glamour, combined with her incessant love for Australian and worldwide fashions and charity instantly places her at number 4 on our list. Australia’s Next Top Model just wouldn’t be the same…
3. Miranda Kerr
No Top 10 Australian countdown would be complete without two words: Miranda Kerr. Miranda became a household name after winning a 1997 Australia-wide model search hosted by Dolly Magazine. Kerr has modeled countless Aussie labels including Alex Perry, Seafolly, Roxy and Billabong to name a few; and her face has graced the pages of Vogue, Elle and Harpers Bazaar. Miranda is not only a fashion icon, but also supports Aussie charities such as Steve Irwin’s Wildlife Warriors Worldwide - earning her the spot of number 3 on our top 10 countdown.
2. Kylie Minogue
At number 2 sits international Australian-born and bred superstar, Kylie Minogue stands at number two on our countdown. With a career that has spanned almost her entire life, Kylie’s catchy songs, girl-next-door appeal and wholesome figure have all attributed to her overall success as an all-round Australian sweetheart, and her involvement with endless charity organizations and fashion labels makes her a Gideon all-time favourite.
Corbin Harris is a true example of an all-round Australian. Between being a professional skater, Corbin (who was born and bred in Sydney) is proud to be the face of countless Australian brands, and supports numerous Australian Charities that all aim to make a difference. Corbin represents everything that the Gideon Label stands for – individuality, passion, and dedication to a good cause, and for those reasons earns the title of our number 1 Australian.

Environmental Saviour
First there was mink, then came leather, and recently there was leopard print. This season the runways of Burberry, Sergio Rossi and Roberto Cavalli have been covered in snake and crocodile skin. Whilst the textured tones of the scaly slinkers may be appealing to some; many bloggers and journalists across the globe have questioned the ethics behind the animals that have to be sacrificed for such fashions.
The controversial methods that bring the snakes and crocodiles to the runway are what seem to be under fire. Unfortunately, animals are being farmed actively for their skin – and to some this is simply unacceptable.
Many Australian’s will be well aware of the pesky Cane Toads that have managed to spread through habitats across Queensland. The toxic skin of the Cane Toad means that as a species it has managed to kill hundreds of native Australian animals, threatening the biodiversity of the country on the whole. For this reason, Cane Toads are culled in order to protect native species from their toxic terrorization.
Whilst the demand for snake and crocodile skin may be on the rise, Gideon thought of a fantastic idea to help save our native species from an untimely trip down the runway, and use a resource that is otherwise being wasted. The new range of Gideon Shoes will see the rescued Cane Toad hydes going to good use, in a variety of funky colours. The shoes are a resourceful way to be fashionable, whilst remaining environmentally ethical.

Stepping foot in Westfield
This morning Team Gideon had a VIP sneak-peek of Sydney's new city Westfield branch. We can't say much - but the centre itself is going to be INCREDIBLE and we here at Gideon Shoes are honoured to be retailing our label within the branch.
As well as a kiosk next to some of the worlds most innovative and trendy high street brands such as Zara (all new to Australia), Nike and more - Gideon and the Ted Noffs Street University are going to be presenting a fantastic piece of artwork close to the Westfield's Market Street entrance. Here's a snap of our artist, Daimon Downey, at work visualising the piece! It's going to stop you in your footsteps (in your brand-new Gideon Shoes of course).
How excited are you for the launch of the Sydney's new Westfield? We sure know we are. Watch this space!

This blog will follow the footsteps of the Gideon Shoe label, providing you with constant updates and innovative content with everything Gideon; the design, launch parties, celebrity sightings and more.
